READING BOWL WINNERS MOVE ON TO REGIONAL COMPETITION

The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl competitions for Cherokee County Schools were held for the middle and high schools on January 10, 2012 at Freedom Middle School. Woodstock MS won first place in the middle school competition, and Freedom MS placed second.  The first-place winner of the high school competition was Etowah HS, and River Ridge HS came in second place.

 

The elementary competition was held at Freedom MS on January 17, 2012.  Clayton ES won first place, and Arnold Mill ES came in second place.

 

The first and second place teams from elementary, middle and high school will compete at the District Regional Bowl on February 4, 2012 in Hall County.

 

The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is a reading competition open to teams of students in grades 4-12.  Teams are required to read selections from the Georgia Peach Teen and Georgia Book Awards lists prior to competing in an academic bowl format.
