October House Meeting

At October House meetings, the house of AZAR participated in campus cleanup.  Students divided into teams.  Teams then swept and dusted classroom.  Some teams cleaned up the playground areas.  The house of FENGHUANG paired older students with younger students for mentoring.  They discussed the Firebird 20 and how we can become better citizens in our school.

 IKES Cares About Our Community

 

Current Service Projects:

 

    Campus Cleanup:  The House of Azar held a campus cleanup during our last house meeting.  Students were divided into teams that cleaned different areas of our campus.  Some picked up trash outside while others dusted and swept inside.

 

      Cherokee County Animal Shelter:  IKES is collecting items needed for animals in our county animal shelter.  These items include blankets, towels, newspapers, toys, and dog food.  This service project is headed by SHS senior, Savannah Stewart, as a part of her senior project.

 

2.       SHS ROTC Food Drive:  SHS ROTC are doing a food drive for Must Ministries to provide for local families during Thanksgiving..  Each grade level is assigned an item.  The team that collects the most items will earn an extra recess period. (Sponsored by The House of Phoenix and IKES Junior Optimist Club) (Ends Nov. 12)

K       collect corn and macaroni & cheese

1st     collect green beans and instant unsweetened tea

2nd    collect cans of soup (any variety) and pie or cake mix with frosting

3rd     collect yams and cranberry sauce and boxed stuffing

4th     collect cans of fruit – peaches, fruit cocktail

5th     collect cans or jars gravy mix and bags of marshmallows

6th     collect cans of chicken broth and small bags of sugar (4 or 5 lb)

 

3.       St. Jude Children’s Hospital:  The House of Azar is sponsoring a hat day on Oct. 31.  Students who donate $1 will be given a sticker allowing them to wear a hat that day.  Money raised will go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
