Welcome to the home webpage of Sequoyah High School. We are the Chiefs and are proud of our school's history and achievements. SHS has been a leader in education, extra-curricular activities and athletics in the state of Georgia. Sequoyah High School is a National Blue Ribbon School, a Georgia School of Excellence, and a Governor’s Office for Student Achievement Platinum Award Winner and one of Atlanta Magazine’s Best High Schools in the Atlanta Region. In addition, Sequoyah High School has been selected by Newsweek Magazine as “A Best High School in America “for nine years in a row (2004 to 2012).

The National Ranking of high schools was also begun by the Washington Post in the spring of 2011.  I am pleased to report that Sequoyah High School was selected by the Washington Post as one of the “Best High Schools in America” every year that they have ranked the nation’s high schools.

Sequoyah High School has also been designated as an Advanced Placement STEM Achievement School.  Advanced Placement STEM Achievement Schools are schools with students testing in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses and at least forty percent of the exam scores on the AP math exams and the AP science exams were scores of three or higher.

Our faculty, together with parents, students, staff, and our business and community partners have created a dynamic educational environment that is committed to academic success and educational excellence.

We are proud of our challenging and rigorous academic program, our Georgia High School Graduation Test scores, our state End of Course Test scores, our Advanced Placement Test scores, our PSAT test scores, our SAT test scores and our ACT scores.

We are equally proud of the accomplishments of our extra-curricular achievements and the success experienced by our athletic teams.

Our award winning PTA/PTSA has been recognized by the local council and the state PTA for its success and accomplishments. They received the President’s Choice Award and the Outstanding Local Unit award from the Cherokee County Council.  Our PTA/PTSA was recognized by the state as the District 13 Outstanding Local Unit and the number two high school PTA in the state.

We have created a school culture at Sequoyah that all of our stake holders are proud to support.
