Students in grades Kindergarten through fifth are served in inclusion and pull out settings. Students are responsible for all daily assignments with teacher assistance in reading, math and writing. Modifications are made and new strategies attempted for students who need them. The teacher helps students stay on task, explains difficult assignments, encourages completion of homework assignments and assists the regular classroom teacher with individual student's difficulty. The E.I.P. teacher helps the E.I.P. students learn the skills to be successful in a regular classroom environment.

     ESOL

Depending upon the grade level, ESOL students receive daily classroom instruction varying from 45-55 minutes. The ESOL program concentrates on four areas: speaking, reading, listening and writing skills. The use of the Hampton-Brown Avenues series in small groups helps to provide thematic units that stress oral language and phonetic skills development. Language experience activities are also incorporated in the program. The Rosetta Stone and various other computer programs are used to develop language. The Natural Approach and Total Physical Response teaching methods are incorporated in ESOL classes.
