Six Cherokee Teachers Chosen as Master Teachers

Body

Six Cherokee County School District teachers have been selected by the Georgia Department of Education as Advanced Placement (AP) “Master Teachers” to lead regional workshops in their respective subjects for AP instructors across the state.  The selected CCSD teachers and their subject areas are: Creekview HS, Michael Sinco, AP World History; Etowah HS, Mary Shell, AP World History; Sequoyah HS, Elaine Dasher, AP English Literature; Woodstock HS, Erin Hall, AP Psychology; Josh Sailers, AP Economics; and Krista Webb, AP World History. The CCSD teachers were selected for this role based on the consistently high AP exam scores earned by their students.  The AP program provides college-level courses to high school students.  Students may receive high school credit and/or credit in college through advanced study and successful completion of an AP exam.  Compared with regular high school courses, the AP courses are more demanding, often requiring more time and more work, but studies show that AP students are highly successful in college.
