The Cherokee County School District’s Special Education curriculum is based on the local and state standards, as are core subjects, while using the integration of various teaching strategies. The concepts of these strategies are used to relate to students’ lives and future career choices. While using these goal oriented strategies our special education teachers use problem solving skills, communication techniques, hands-on activities and instruction in the application of technology.
An Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is set forth for each student that qualifies for special education. Each student is assigned a case manager to oversee the content of the IEP, and the observation of accommodations and modifications in the regular and special education classrooms. The goals and objectives set forth by the IEP committee will be achieved through the shared responsibility of parent, community and teachers. We encourage the concept of self-advocacy, and hope all students leave Woodstock High School with a stronger sense of pride and self-worth.
