CCSD– Where Options Abound!
Our mission is to enable all students to communicate effectively, gather and use information, make responsible decisions, utilize technology effectively and adapt to the challenges of the future.
Providing a variety of digital and virtual learning opportunities will help make our students more successful in the 21st Century workplace.
Digital Online Courses are web-based, in a lab setting facilitated by a classroom teacher who will monitor and assist students. These courses are licensed from an online provider and implemented by our district.
Virtual Online Courses are web-based with a certified online teacher who provides direct teacher to student interactive instruction, collaborative opportunities and transcript grades.
Initial Credit Options
A. Georgia Virtual School (GaVS) is a fully accredited and NCAA approved virtual high school. Currently GaVS offers over 120 unique core curriculum, AP, and elective courses. Students taking a course for the first time earn high school credit while learning in a virtual format where a certified, highly-qualified teacher guides the student on a self-directed learning program.
Explore GaVS at www.gavirtualschool.org.
B. Other accredited online providers of initial credit are available for a fee. Students wishing to take a course offered by a provider other than GAVS or Apex, are required to obtain advanced approval from their home school before registering with that provider. The guidance counselor will verify that the course meets his program of study.
C. Apex is used for initial credit at ACE Academy where students taking a course for the first time can move at their own pace using digital instruction in a classroom facilitated by a highly qualified teacher.
