The Cherokee County Board of Education, Office of Grants Management is committed to assisting teachers and administrators in the location, application management, and reconciliation of grants from both public and private sources. If you have a project or teaching idea that you would like to see founded, please contact the Office of Grants Management. We will search our databases and try to match your idea or project with an appropriate funding source.

Large grants or grants that have a system-wide focus usually have a long application process that requires many weeks and several offices working together in order to successfully submit a proposal. Typically these grants have a deadline between February and July for the following academic year. The ideal time to begin this process is September or October. The Office of Grants Management announces opportunities as they become available, but if you know of any, please contact us so the opportunity can be analyzed to determine compatibility with the Major System Priorities, teaching philosophy and student needs.

Typically, to request funds of less than $2,500 the process is shortened and the requirements not as strenuous as with large grants. These “mini grants” can sometimes be found within the local community. However, in order to avoid “going to the well” too often, please contact the Office of Grants Management prior to application. All grant requests are submitted through this office so the District maintains a focused, efficient and professional approach to all grant seeking endeavors.

Perhaps more difficult than finding or applying for grants is the day to day management and fiscal reconciliation of grant funds once they are awarded. From organizing the distribution of funds and determining policies and procedures to scheduling required reports back to the grantor and closing out the fiscal accounts, the Office of Grants Management has the experience and resources to release teachers and administrators from this burden and allow them to focus on the needs of our students.

It is the intent of the Office of Grants Management to assist teachers and administrators in providing the students and families of Cherokee County with expanded opportunities to learn and grow. Please use the resources available through this office so we may accomplish the goals and desired outcomes established in the Strategic Plan and individual School Improvement Plans.
