From Atlanta, Marietta Area
Take I-75 North to I-575. From I-575 take Exit 16. From the exit ramp, go to the left following the signs to Highway 5. Turn right at the next red light on to Highway 5. Stay on Highway 5, passing Cherokee High School on the left. Proceed to the intersection of Highway 5 and Highway 140. There is a CVS Pharmacy at the corner. At that intersection, turn right at the stop light toward downtown Canton. Cross the bridge and the railroad track and go up the hill. Building A of the Cherokee County Board of Education is on the right. Turn right on Academy Street at the emergency signal. The Personnel Office is one block ahead on the left, at the corner of Archer and Academy in Building C.
From Roswell Area
Take Highway 140 to Canton. At the end of Highway 140, turn right on Marietta Street. Stay on Marietta Street, crossing the railroad track and proceeding straight through the 4-way stop. Turn left on Archer Street. The Personnel Office is located at the corner of Archer and Academy Street on the left at the end of the street.
From Cumming Area
Take Highway 20 into Canton. As you come into town you will begin the one-way circle of Main Street at the Public Safety Building (old library). You will need to get in the left lane, and you will pass the Justice Center and Courthouse on the right and go past the fire department on the left. Just past the fire department, turn left, continuing the circle of town. Immediately cross over into the far right lane. As you begin this left turn you will see ahead of you a single story brick building which is Building A of the Cherokee County Board of Education offices. At the emergency signal, turn right on Academy Street. The Personnel Office is one block ahead on the left, at the corner of Archer and Academy in Building C.
From Jasper Area
Take Highway 5 to Canton. After you pass the Ingles shopping center on the left, you will come to a red light. Turn left on Main Street. Cross the bridge and the railroad track and go up the hill. Building A of the Cherokee County Board of Education is on the right. Turn right on Academy Street at the emergency signal. The Personnel Office is on the left, one block ahead at the corner of Archer and Academy in Building C.

Registration for Kindergarten and First Grade (new students only) is held in mid-April. For new residents over the summer, schools open in late July. The Cherokee County Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. on the first and/or third Thursday of the month in the Historic Canton High School/School Board Auditorium, 111 Academy Street, Canton, Georgia 30114. The program runs at most elementary schools from the end of school until 6 p.m. The cost is $8 per day, per child.
Yes, she will have to wait until the following school year. Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1 in order to be eligible for kindergarten and 6 years old on or before September 1 to be eligible for first grade according to Georgia law

If your child attended kindergarten at any Cherokee County Elementary School last year, then he is automatically registered for the first grade at that school.
You can register at your child’s school for the Parent Information Website to access our online grade and attendance monitoring program. You can request to be alerted via email if your child receives a failing grade, is absent or tardy, or misses an assignment. Students in grades K-2 report attendance only in this program.
All major metro and local media outlets will be notified as soon as possible when the decision is made to close schools. The notice will also be placed on the home page of our web site immediately. When school is closed for the day, all school activities for that day/evening are also cancelled. Lunch is $2 for elementary students, and $2.25 for middle and high school students. Visitors pay $3.50 for lunch at any school. Breakfast is $1.25 for all students; visitors may eat breakfast for $1.75. Free and reduced price meals are available for eligible students. Community facility use requests must start with the school principal/worksite location supervisor. Depending on the nature of the request, there are rental fees, utility fees and custodial fees assessed for usage by an outside group. No; CCSD uses a "balanced" calendar: there is a week-long break in September and another week break in February, but otherwise it is a traditional school calendar that starts in August and ends in May.
