Cherokee County School District recognizes that gifted-identified students require specialized educational experiences to meet their specific needs. CCSD is committed to providing educational programs that meet the unique needs of the gifted child.
Gifted students in Cherokee County receive instruction based on problem-based, real-world, critical thinking and creative learning while fostering skills for independent and inquiry-based learning.
Gifted services are available in all Cherokee County Schools for students in kindergarten through grade 12 who qualify based on state requirements and guidelines.
Gifted students are served in a variety of models in Cherokee County: Resource pull-out gifted class, cluster grouping with a gifted endorsed teacher, advanced-content model, and through honors and advanced placement classes. Schools serve their gifted population based on the services that best meet the needs of their students. Parents may contact their student’s school to learn more about the service model at the school.
Competitive events for Cherokee County School District students are selected at the local school level. Cherokee County Students may participate in a variety of extracurricular activities including but not limited to Reading Bowl, Academic Bowl, Science Olympiad, Math Competitions, Science and/or Social Studies Fairs, Governor’s Honors Program, Young Author’s Fair, Honors Chorus, and Art Show Receptions. Many gifted-identified students choose to participate in these, and other, rigorous academic challenges during the school year.
