Three Cherokee County School District teachers have been nominated for a national honor!

Kristin Covington of Mountain Road Elementary School, Rebecca Heard of Clayton Elementary School and Mystic Henderson of Etowah High School are nominees for the 2018-2019 LifeChanger of the Year Award.

The national recognition program honors K-12 public school educators and employees who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership.  National winners will be selected by a committee and surprised at their schools in the spring, with a grand prize winner announced in May; the winning teachers and their schools will receive cash awards.

One national award -- the LifeChanger Spirit Award – is presented to the nominee whose community demonstrates the most support for his or her nomination.  To demonstrate support for a nominee, you can write a social media post that links to her profile on LifeChanger’s website and add the hashtag #LCOY (on Instagram, also tag @LifeChangeroftheYear). Here are the profiles for Ms. Covington (, Ms. Heard ( and Ms. Henderson (

LifeChanger of the Year is sponsored and run by National Life Group and the National Life Group Foundation.
