CCSD has earned the National School Public Relations Association's prestigious Golden Achievement Award in recognition of its #SafeCherokee campaign.

The campaign included announcements, news articles, posters, social media posts, and videos, and was kicked off with the video above (, which we're sharing again in preparation for the start of this school year.

It's the first time for CCSD's Office of Communications to earn this award, which recognizes outstanding communications efforts by school district. Only about 100 school districts nationwide annually earn this honor. The projects were made possible with the support of CCSD's Offices of Safety & Security, School Operations and Human Resources and Cherokee County's public safety agencies.

CCSD also earned an NSPRA Merit Award for its CCSD Connections parent e-newsletter, and Honorable Mention awards for the CCSD website at and the “Understanding the CCSD Budget” video produced in collaboration with CCSD's Office of Financial Management.

The Office of Communications is made up of Chief Communications Officer Barbara Jacoby, Supervisor Carrie McGowan, Coordinator Penny Dempsey and Administrative Assistant Anne Reed.
