River Ridge HS Senior Earns Perfect ACT Score!

Posted On: Tuesday, November 12, 2019

perfect ACT Callie Goins 11 12 19

A Cherokee County School District senior has earned a perfect score on the ACT!

River Ridge High School senior Callie Goins achieved the top composite score of 36 on the challenging college entrance and placement test.  Of the 1.8 Million students who take the ACT each year, less than one-half of 1 percent accomplish this feat.

“Congratulations to Callie on this remarkable achievement,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “We’re so proud of Callie for this honor and all she has accomplished as a student, athlete and leader.  Her resume is very impressive, including distinguished service as this year’s Student Advisor to our School Board.”

The ACT exam includes English, mathematics, reading and science sections; each section is scored on a scale of 1-36, and the composite score is the average of those four.  The exam’s scores provide universities greater understanding of how well students are prepared for success, according to ACT.

Additionally, Callie is a Superintendent’s Key Scholar ranked No. 6 in her class, and serves as senior class secretary and treasurer for National Honor Society.  A member of the Beta Club service organization and school Leadership Club, Callie also is a U.S. Figure Skating gold medalist and two-time Georgia Figure Skating Club Skater of the Year!  She volunteers with Project Linus and Georgia Figure Skating Club, and for the school’s Trunk or Treat and Knight Before Christmas events.

Callie will be recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent of Schools at the School Board Meeting on November 21.  She will be recognized along with junior Maya Osborne, who also recently earned a perfect score -- they are the first students in CCSD to accomplish this achievement this school year, and the first in River Ridge High School’s history.
