CCSD schools celebrated Georgia Pre-K week (October 7-11) with visits from school partners and special guests. Credit Union of Georgia, Home Depot, Georgia Power, Woodstock Police Department and State Rep. Mandi Ballinger were among those who stopped by to read a story or work on an activity with the Pre-K students. Superintendent Dr. Brian Hightower visited each of the locations this week to meet teachers and say hello to the District's youngest students.

CCSD provides multiple programs for students who have not reached kindergarten age, including Georgia Lottery-funded Pre-Kindergarten, the federal Head Start program for 4-year-olds, and preschool programs for 3 and 4-year-olds. This year more than 450 students in Cherokee County are enrolled in one of these early learning programs.
