The Bascomb Elementary School Counseling Program seeks to maximize the development of students in an environment that recognizes and fosters the uniqueness of each individual.

The mission of the Bascomb Elementary School Counseling Program is to provide a safe and accepting environment for students to work towards reaching their highest potential.  Students will have access to the school counseling program through individual counseling check-ins, small groups and classroom counseling lessons that will focus on their academic, personal/social and career needs. The school counselors will work to assist all students in accomplishing their goals and becoming responsible, productive and culturally aware citizens at school and in their communities.

Individual Counseling Many students can benefit from speaking with the school counselor individually. This can occur for a variety of reasons including conflicts, social skills, organizational skills, time management assistance, changes at home, stress management and many more.  Typically students are referred by their teachers or parents but also have the option of self-referral.  School counselors provide short-term counseling (check-ins) that does not replace long-term therapy or counseling that occurs outside of the school setting.

Small Group Counseling Small group counseling can be a great way for students to interact with others of a similar age who may be facing like challenges.  Small groups offer students a chance to gain skills and techniques that can assist them in a particular area in which they may be struggling. Small groups require parental consent for a student to participate.
