Red Hawk Logo

Happy Thanksgiving to our Clark Creek Families!  We hope that you have had a wonderful week with family and friends!  We are thankful for your continuous support and encouragement!

I am excited to share that Clark Creek has been named a Title 1 Distinguished School!  This distinction recognizes that we are among the highest-performing 5% of all Title I schools in Georgia and the only one in Cherokee County! Way to go RedHawk Nation!

It is that time of year to replenish school supplies: paper, pencils, glue sticks, earbuds (that can stay at school) are all great stocking stuffer ideas!  Feel free to check with your child’s teacher for other specifics.

Also, don’t forget you can always make a financial donation to the school for that last-minute tax deduction you will need before December 20, 2019.  You will be so glad you donated to Clark Creek Elementary STEM Academy on April 15, 2020!

Student Withdrawals:  If your family is planning to move out of our school district, please contact our Registrar, Ms. Partin at Nancy.partin@cherokee.k12.ga.us at least 5 days prior to the withdrawal to allow time for necessary paperwork to be prepared.  The enrolling parent must come to the office and sign a student withdrawal form.  Any textbooks, iReady math workbooks, and library books should be returned to school.  In addition, any outstanding lunch fees, ASP fees, or other school fees must be cleared by their last day at CCES.  Thanks!

From PTA:

REDHAWK FUN RUN - The students had a blast running so many laps just before the break and we came so close to reaching our fundraising goal thanks to everyone's amazing efforts!!  Did you know the pledging deadline was extended to Tuesday, December 3rd?!  That means there's still time to reach our goal.  Currently we're at 89%, but we would love to reach 100% so that the playgrounds can be fixed and upgraded!!

Holiday Shop is coming!!  All students will have the opportunity to shop during school hours between Monday, December 9th and Friday, December 13th.  The shop will also be open during the Family Fun Night!  It takes several volunteers to run the shop each day.  Please sign up below to work a shift or two in the shop and help students find gifts for family and friends!!  You can also come during your student's shopping time to help them (day/time to be sent by your student's teacher).

Family Fun Night & Santa Pictures - Join us on Tuesday, December 10th between 6-8pm for some holiday fun, it's FREE!!  There will be cookie decorating, pictures with Santa, and the Holiday Shop will be open to find gifts for your family and friends!!  Please use the link below to reserve your spot for Santa pictures (bring your own camera).  Walk-ins will be accommodated between appointments as time allows.  We will also be collecting new unwrapped toys to be donated to Toys for Tots!

The Hour of Code is a worldwide effort to broaden student exposure to computer science and it takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week which is held annually in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).   Clark Creek students are exposed to coding throughout their entire time at our school, but we also want to participate yearly in this wonderful event.  The coding activities below are what each grade will be doing for the event in the Odyssey Lab, but there are many other options you can explore with your child at https://hourofcode.com/us/learn

  • Kindergarten and 1st Grade - Kodable
  • 2nd and 3rd Grades – Minecraft Hour of Code
  • 4th Grade – Scratch: Code A Cartoon
  • 5th Grade – Scratch: Animate an Adventure Game

We have attached the Reading Tip for the month of December.  Please try it at home with your students. They are available in English and Spanish. If you have any questions, please contact your Parent Facilitator: Livi Avila livi.avila@cherokeek12.net

Stay Healthy!  See the attached Fall Wellness Newsletter.

Spelling Bee Champion:  Thank you to all of the fourth and fifth-grade homeroom teachers.  Your Spelling Bee representatives did a wonderful job representing your class and Clark Creek.  Our Spelling bee champion was Keirthen, from 4th grade.  Our runner up was Margaux from 5th grade.  The county-wide Spelling Bee will take place in January!

From the ART ROOM:

**We have been asked to create cheery artwork for a local agency to put on display.  Due to our class schedule, I am asking students who want to participate to create the artwork at home and bring it to me by Friday, December 6.  Students can choose the 2-d media of choice (paint, colored pencil, marker, crayon, collage).  The ONLY requirement is that it needs to be cheerful and joyous invoking a happy mood.  So, little artists, use bright colors and create an image of joy.  Have your student put their name and grade ON THE BACK of the artwork.  I look forward to seeing all the wonderful work!

**Thank you for your generosity and support of the Square 1 Art fundraiser.  Products will be delivered early December and sent home with your student.

Ongoing reminder:  There will be no ASP on Friday, December 20th.   We are providing you this information early to help you plan on alternative childcare options for this day.  If your child attends ASP on Fridays, please complete the attached form and return to your child’s homeroom teacher by December 11th.  If your child will be a car rider and you do not have a car rider tag, you will need to stop by our front office to purchase one.
