Clark Creek ES STEM Academy 2021 TOTY Rebecca Coleman

Our teachers are amazing, which is why we share the story of a school’s Teacher of the Year every week ... please help us celebrate 2021 Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy Teacher of the Year Rebecca Coleman!

Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy Teacher of the Year Rebecca Coleman is the kind of teacher students remember for a lifetime.

As a kindergarten teacher, she is among the first teachers children meet on their education path, and she makes it her mission to make the best impression possible.

“She gives of herself and never lets up on what is right for the kids and what she needs to do to make sure the foundation is set as they move forward throughout their years of schooling,” shared one parent.  “She teaches much more than the required elements needed in kindergarten.  She also teaches kindness, respect, caring and love for others – the lifelong values that all of us need to start our lives and live our lives as individuals.”

A 12-year teacher, Ms. Coleman is beginning her sixth year in her current role and has added to her experience by continuing her education with a master’s in education degree in reading and literacy and multiple endorsements.  In addition to earning her colleagues’ respect and nomination for Teacher of the Year, she also has earned the Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award presented by Boy Scouts of America.  Ms. Coleman is known for the great care she shows for her students, her dedication to collaborating with colleagues and her expertise in blending STEM learning and literacy.

In her own words: “It is important that teachers take interest in students and their lives both inside and outside of the classroom.  When I show up to a student’s event outside of the classroom, I am showing the student and family that they are valuable, loved and celebrated.”
