Three Cherokee County School District Class of 2022 graduating seniors have earned $5,000 scholarships from a local organization!
Anna Connelly of Creekview High School and Tafton Barber and Wesley Lanter of Sequoyah High School each have been named recipients of the Sawnee Electric Membership Foundation Youth Scholarship.
Twenty seniors in the Sawnee EMC service area received the scholarship; winners are selected based on their résumé of academic excellence and school and community involvement and service, answers to essay questions and letters of recommendation.
The scholarships are funded by Sawnee EMC customers who “round up” their bills and make additional donations through the Operations Round Up program.
“Congratulations on this well-earned scholarship and best wishes as you continue your education,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “We’re grateful to Sawnee EMC and its customers for recognizing our students’ dedication and supporting them with scholarships – thank you!”
