CCSD Educators Honored by the Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers CCSD STEM Scholars Awards 2 23 21

The Cherokee County School District recently hosted a ceremony honoring three teachers with awards from the Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers.

The statewide STEM education organization earlier this school year named E.T. Booth MS teacher Daniele Deneka and Teasley MS teacher Scott Reece as 2021 STEM Scholars and last year named Clark Creek ES STEM Academy teacher Karen Garland a 2020 STEM Scholar.  The awards recognize teaching excellence and outstanding commitment to instilling appreciation for science and math in elementary and middle school students.  As its traditional award events were cancelled, the organization scheduled a special presentation event to be held at CCSD’s administrative offices.

CCSD Board Business Briefs: New School Leader Appointments CCSD new leaders 2 12 21

The Cherokee County School Board on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, approved several appointments for CCSD school leadership roles for next school year.

As part of the monthly personnel report, the School Board accepted the retirements of many longtime educators throughout CCSD including Bascomb Elementary School Principal Kathleen Chandler.  

CCSD Surprises District's Teacher of the Year Finalists toty finalists

Four Cherokee County School District teachers learned today that they will advance as finalists for the CCSD Teacher of the Year award!  Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower visited their classrooms to make the surprise announcement that they are the top four teachers of all CCSD schools’ and centers’ Teachers of the Year.

CCSD Announces Winners of Student Mask Usage PSA Contest Elementary School First Place - Keiko Bruno

The Cherokee County School District today surprised the winners of its poster and video contests to seek students’ help in encouraging mask usage among their classmates.

CCSD students in grades 6-12 were invited to create and enter a short public service announcement-style video that educates students about the benefits of mask usage by students at school, and students in grades K-12 were invited to design and enter a poster promoting the same message.  The winning videos and posters will be used in CCSD schools and on CCSD websites and social media to promote student mask usage.
