CCSD Graduation Rate Continues to Exceed State Averages graduation-caps

The Cherokee County School District’s graduation rate continues to exceed State averages with 87% of the Class of 2019 earning a diploma within four years of entering high school.

CCSD’s performance tops the State’s rate of 82% -- an all-time high since the State began using a new formula required by Federal law.  Georgia’s rate has increased by 12 percentage points since 2012, while CCSD has climbed nearly 15 points.

Seven Cherokee County School District students have been named to the State School Superintendent’s 2019-20 Student Advisory Council!

They are: Etowah HS ninth-grader Ila Prabhuram, who also was selected to serve last school year; E.T. Booth MS eighth-graders Madeline May and Anvita Rautray; Teasley MS eighth-grader Nick Whyte; Woodstock HS seniors Laney Broussard and Ella Elbeck; and Woodstock MS seventh-grader Marisol Borrero.

28 CCSD Schools Honored at State Level for Health and PE Programs 2019 ccsd shape honor roll 9 13 19

Twenty-eight Cherokee County School District schools have been honored at the State level for excellence in health and PE programs!

The schools all earned recognition on the Governor’s SHAPE (Student Health and Physical Education) Honor Roll, which rewards outstanding commitment to the health and well-being of Georgia’s students through fitness and nutrition.

CCSD School Nutrition Scores a Three-peat with Another State Platinum Award 2019 Golden Radish Logo

The Cherokee County School District School Nutrition program has scored a three-peat with its third consecutive Platinum-level Georgia Golden Radish Award!

CCSD’s program, which serves 5 million meals each year in school cafeterias, again earned the top award from Georgia’s Departments of Agriculture, Public Health and Education, and Georgia Organics.

CCSD Transportation Department Recertified for National Blue Seal of Excellence!  ASE logo 2019

The CCSD Transportation Department has earned recertification of its prestigious National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Blue Seal of Excellence!

CCSD in 2015 became one of the first school systems in the State to obtain this level of certification, and just learned that this important seal of approval has been extended again based on a close review of its staff’s knowledge and practices.

Board Briefs: School Board Approves New Strategic Plan Based on Community Input Blueprint 20-24 Five Priority Areas

The Cherokee County School Board on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019 approved Blueprint, a new long-range plan for the Cherokee County School District’s continued success, developed based on community input. 

The creation of the new five-year strategic plan, which is posted here, evolved over six months of meetings with students, families, teachers, support staff, business and community partners to determine what matters most to them and how CCSD could better serve them.

23 CCSD Students Place at Georgia PTA Reflections! CCSD Georgia PTA Reflections Winners 2018-19

Twenty-three Cherokee County School District students placed in the 2018-19 Georgia PTA Reflections fine arts contest!

The annual PTA Reflections contest gives students in all grades and abilities the opportunity to create original works of art in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts for the opportunity to earn recognition at the School, County, State and National levels. 

CCSD Announces Anti-Vaping Student PSA Video Contest  image CCSD Anti-Vaping Student PSA Contest 2019

The Cherokee County School District is sponsoring a video contest with a $500 prize to seek students’ help in raising awareness of the dangers of vaping.

CCSD students in grades 6-12 are invited to create and enter by Oct. 1, 2019 a short public service announcement-style video that educates students about the health dangers of vaping.  Entries will be judged for message, quality and creativity.  One winner will receive $500 sponsored by the Service League of Cherokee County.
