Our school was built in 1980 and was named for Florine Dial Johnston, a prominent community member whose family donated property for the school. Johnston Elementary School dedicated its new walking track in September 2015, which was made possible through community support. The Joe. E Johnston Walking Track was funded with donations from the Joe E. Johnston Foundation, Johnston ES PTA, Service League of Cherokee County and Cherokee County Educational Foundation.
