Meet Your Counselor
Our full-time counselor at Oak Grove Elementary is Ms. Janeen Anderson. Ms. Anderson was born and raised right here in Acworth. After graduating from North Cobb High School, she went on to attend Reinhardt University. She then transferred to Valdosta State where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. She worked in the social work field for a few years, then entered the corporate world for a while and later pursued her graduate degree in counseling at West Georgia State University. She joined the Oak Grove staff as a school counselor in 2005 and loves working with the students and families of Oak Grove. She is excited to have Mrs. Rowburrey joining her this year as a half-time counselor. Mrs. Rowburrey will primarily be serving the 1st and 4th grade students for guidance lessons. Ms. Anderson will be serving 2nd, 3rd and 5th grades and they will both serve Kindergarten.
Ms. Anderson lives in Cherokee County with her daughter who also attended Cherokee County schools, and her two cats. When she is not working, Ms. Anderson enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling to new places, trying new foods, do-it-yourself home projects, watching HGTV home renovation shows (Fixer Upper), she LOVES decorating and she dreams of being a published author one day.
