2019-2020 Secondary School Report


The Cherokee County School District (CCSD) is a high-performing public school system in Metro Atlanta, with 42 schools and centers, 4,800 employees and approximately 42,200 students. CCSD is the ninth-largest school system in Georgia, and is one of only 11 school districts in the Nation to be named an Innovative District for 2018 by The International Center for Leadership in Education.
River Ridge High School is located in Woodstock, Georgia, approximately 35 miles north of Atlanta. River Ridge was established in 2009, and graduated its first class in 2013. The graduating class in 2019 had 382 students, and River Ridge students and teachers have enjoyed numerous successes including raising the graduation rate, raising ACT and SAT scores, and being named an AP Humanities, AP Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and AP STEM Achievement School in 2019. River Ridge has appeared on the Washington Post’s “America’s Most Challenging High Schools list, and is the only Cherokee County school participating in the prestigious Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy.


Extra-curricular and athletic accomplishments for River Ridge include: six athletic teams qualified to represent River Ridge at the state level, including Girls and Boys Tennis, Girls Track and Field, Girls Cross Country, Girls Lacrosse, and Baseball.


The Cross-Country, Swimming, Track & Field, and Wrestling teams produced individual state qualifiers as well.
