Teasley MS Administration

Ms. Kathie Monti - Principal

Kathie Monti

My name is Kathie Monti, and I am honored to serve the Raider Nation this year as the Principal of Teasley Middle School. I am originally from North Carolina where I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My mom taught Kindergarten for 32 years and my father was the editor of a magazine for teachers. Education was the obvious career choice for me.

During my career in education, I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts and Reading. At the school level, I served as a Department Chair, Team Leader, and on the SACS-CASI accreditation committee. I was chosen as the Teacher of the Year for Marietta Middle School, Teacher of the Year for the Marietta City School System and a finalist for the Teacher of the Year for the state of Georgia.

After leaving the classroom, I worked for the Georgia Department of Education as the Teacher Advisor for the Race to the Top Grant helping to create policy that would positively impact student achievement. During this time period, I also worked as a trainer for the Teacher Keys Evaluation System.

I am proud to say that I found my way back to the school level and served the last 7 years as an Assistant Principal at E. T. Booth. When I am not at school, I love hiking, playing in the dirt, and pulling for my Tarheels!

I am excited to join the Raider Nation and to become a part of the Teasley Community. Please, do not hesitate to contact me by phone at 770-721-5420 or via email at

Mr. John Carter - 6th Grade Administrator

Hi there.  My name is John Carter.  I am in my fourth year as an assistant principal at Teasley.  I feel like this is my home away from home, I hope this welcome will help you feel the same way.  My personal educational experience began with a Bachelor of Music from Berry College in Music Education, continued with a Master of Arts in Music Education from Piedmont College, and an Educational Specialist from Kennesaw State University in Educational Leadership.  Areas of particular focus in my study have been technology in education and the intersection of euro-centric and afro-centric culture in American music.

Prior to my five years of school leadership, I was a band director for 13 years here in Cherokee County.  My experience is primarily in middle school as both a teacher and administrator, though I spent three years teaching band and STEM music in an elementary school setting as well as a year in elementary school administration.

In addition to being an educator, I am also a proud army reservist.  For the past 18 years, I have served as a member of the 313th Army Band.  That experience of teamwork, mastery of skills, and grit guides me in my role in the Raider Nation.  This place and these people create a family environment where values of hard work, kindness, and thanks drive everything we do.  I am proud to be a Raider!

Dr. Chris Garity - 7th Grade Administrator

My name is Dr. Chris Garity and I am excited to begin my ninth year as an assistant principal at Teasley Middle School! I earned both my Ed.D. in Executive Leadership and Ed.S. in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University, M.A. in Interrelated Special Education from the University of North Georgia, and B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. This is the 12th year that I have had the privilege of working in the Cherokee County School District.  The first three years of my tenure in Cherokee County were spent as an assistant principal at Etowah High School. Prior to working in Cherokee County, I taught middle school in Fulton County and served as an administrator in Cobb County. My professional interests include mentoring administrators as well as the concept of servant leadership and its role in creating a positive school climate for our student’s success. I continue to be honored to serve the faculty, parents, and students in the community in which I reside.

Ms. Dianne Schumacher - 8th Grade Administrator

Hello!  I am Dianne Schumacher, and I am thrilled to be joining The Raiders as an Assistant Principal at Teasley.  Although born in Wisconsin, I was raised in Georgia.  I attended the University of Georgia and received my undergraduate degree in middle school education.  In addition, I have a Master and Educational Specialist Degree in Education.

This is my 20th year of teaching in Cherokee County.  I taught 7th grade for 15 years with experience in teaching Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Reading.  Two of those years, I was chosen as Teacher of the Year for my school.  After leaving the classroom, I served for 1 year as a Cherokee County District Response-to-Intervention Facilitator.  For the last three years, I was an Instructional Lead Strategist at a Cherokee County high school as an instructional coach.

Outside of the school building, you can find me touring museums, reading historical fiction, digging in my garden, and spending time outdoors.

It is my blessing to be able to serve the students, parents, teachers, and community of Teasley!  Go Raiders!
