As CCSD continues to navigate unchartered waters utilizing a Digital Learning platform for middle school instruction, we are creating additional supports for our student’s success. Within this new support, students enrolled in Middle School APEX courses will now be able to receive direct instruction and support from CCSD teachers twice a week for ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies starting on Thursday, August 27, 2020. Students will have the opportunity to listen to live instruction and ask questions during the allotted time frame. Participation in the live instruction is voluntary and does not impact a student’s school attendance record in any way. Additionally, these direct instruction lessons will be recorded and archived for students to have access to following the two-day rotation for delivery. Please note that the school-based content area teacher will continue to provide support when needed.

- How will my student access their live instructional meetings?
Links to the live instructional sessions will be available in Canvas.Students will be able to find the live links to directly attend meetings on their Canvas course homepage.
- Are these meetings required? Will attendance be taken?
These live instructional sessions are optional.Students may choose to attend live and ask questions, or they can view a recording on their own time.No attendance will be taken at the live session.
- What will the hour of live instruction look like?
Typically, the hour will consist approximately 30 minutes of teacher-lead reviews of the material and content from Apex and 30 minutes of general Q&A.
- Why is there a different schedule starting September 10?
To begin offering live instruction as soon as possible, four district-level staff members certified in each of the content areas will be utilized to teach live lessons.Beginning September 10, four additional CCSD teachers will be added to the content presentations for a total of eight teachers certified in each of the content areas for live lesson presentations and support.
