Reminder: CCSD Return to School Questionnaire due June 29

Posted On: Thursday, June 25, 2020

Dear CCSD Parents/Guardians:

This is just a reminder that, if you have not already, please complete the CCSD return-to-school questionnaire by 5 p.m. Monday, June 29.  The message we emailed to you on Monday, including a link to the questionnaire, is posted at https://bit.ly/CCSD62220.  You need your child’s student ID and a unique code to complete it; these were sent to you on Monday in a separate email from “no.reply@cherokee.k12.ga.us”

We already have preference data for nearly half our students, which is an outstanding response rate – thank you!  We have received a few questions from parents, so we’re sharing those, along with the answers, below.

In the email it says one of the options the Superintendent is considering is “Opening on Aug. 3 with both options in place.  Parents would choose one option for their child.”  Why don’t I get to choose that option on the questionnaire?
As stated in both the message and the questionnaire, we’re not asking you to “vote” between the three options for reopening that the Superintendent is considering.  We need a tentative headcount for how many students may come back in person to our schools, how many students may participate in our online learning, and how many students will be withdrawing.  This data will help us finalize tentative plans for allocating resources, including staffing, for the options the Superintendent is considering.  How many parents prefer “both options” doesn’t help us with planning.

Why isn’t there more specific information about your plans for recess, when you will close a school, etc.?  I can’t tell which option is best for my child.
We understand you want more information to make a decision about returning to school.  The questionnaire is not asking you to make a final decision – it’s just to help us gather data for planning.  We know you may feel differently about this today even than you did yesterday.  We will not ask you to make a decision until we announce our reopening plans.  The Superintendent intends to announce his reopening plans, which will be accompanied by a detailed frequently asked questions document, in as timely a manner as possible in July.

Why do I need to enter my child’s student ID and a code?
To help with our planning, we need data by school and by grade; your child’s student ID provides that to us with less typing by you.  The code prevents multiple responses for one child.

Where is my code email?  I didn’t receive it!
If there is someone else who could be listed as the primary parent for your child, ask them to check their email, as they may have received the code.  Check your spam and junk folders, as “no.reply” emails often end up there.  If you still can’t find your code email, then let me know at barbara.jacoby@cherokeek12.net so we can look it up for you.

Thank you,

Barbara P. Jacoby
