Cherokee County School District teachers and staff were welcomed to work for the sixth day of school with sweet surprises from a new organization dedicated to encouraging them and lifting the entire community’s spirits.
The CCSD Positivity Vibes #CCSDunited group started on Facebook on Thursday by parent Nicole Dailey already has grown to more than 5,000 members working to support our teachers, staff and schools. Over the weekend, following a suggestion posted in the group by School Board Chair Kyla Cromer, they decorated school sidewalks with inspiring messages. Members, many of whom are PTA members, are collecting donations and organizing deliveries of snack baskets, gift cards, and breakfasts. Students also are a part of the movement, writing notes to teachers and staff, making them cards, and creating sidewalk chalk designs.
“As a School District, we prepare our teachers and staff with supplies and training, but it takes a whole community to make our schools successful, and we’re deeply grateful for this group’s enthusiastic support,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “What makes this effort especially impressive is that it came entirely from the community and has grown so quickly and already done so much. Thank you to everyone who is cheering our teachers and staff on as we work to continue to serve our students and families. We are better together!”
