CCSD Students Soar at Social Studies Fair!

Cherokee County School District students excelled in this year’s Social Studies Fair, with 16 projects advancing to Regionals and four students placing at the Georgia Council for the Social Studies State competition!

Through the annual event, students explore social studies in the areas of Sociology/Psychology, History, Anthropology, Economics, Geography and Political Science and complete a research project.

E.T. Booth MS eighth-grader Deesha Panchal competed in Sociology/Psychology for Class II grade levels, and not only won first place at the District, Regional and State level… she also won Best in Fair at the State event and the New Georgia Encyclopedia Award!

Three CCSD students also won Best in Class at the State competition: David Holbrook of Carmel ES in Sociology/Psychology for Class I; Emalee Bennett of Dean Rusk MS in History for Class I; and Grace McPherson of Teasley MS in History for Class II.

CCSD’s other first-place District winners are: Sadie Reddish of Arnold Mill ES in History, first at Regions; Lauren Bryant of Bascomb ES in Anthropology, first at Regions; Phoenix Caesar of Bascomb ES in Sociology/Psychology; Hannah Harrell and Katie Wall of Creekview HS in Political Science, first at Regions; Madilyn Collinsworth and Lucy Watkins of Dean Rusk MS in History; Emma Mandoeng and Ayla Takekawa of Dean Rusk MS in History, first at Regions; Alexander Watkins of Knox ES STEM Academy in History, first at Regions; Shane Saulinskas of Knox ES STEM Academy in Sociology/Psychology; Dillon Dailey and Blake Spivey of Liberty ES in History, first at Regions; Mattox Lively of R.M. Moore ES STEM Academy in History, first at Regions; Brendan Stewart and Will Sumner of Woodstock HS in Economics; and Dylan Schell of Woodstock MS in Anthropology, first at Regions.
