Woodstock High School’s Technology Student Association members earned a second-place team win and a first-place individual win at the National competition in a field of 8,000 students!

The students, who won at the State competition to advance to Nationals in Washington, D.C., this summer are: Jack Bortle, Malachi Brewer, Gregory Carroll, Olivia Kelly, Drew Mathena, Anna Mitchell, Elizabeth Mitchell, Katelyn Provost, and Michael Rehman.  Their coach is technology teacher Karen Zayance.

Michael placed first in the Nation in IT Fundamentals, a professional certification test offered by Comptia; Malachi, Gregory and Jack placed second in the Nation in the Tech Bowl competition!

“They worked extremely hard and competed in a variety of events such as software development, computer integrated manufacturing, cybersecurity, and TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Applications, Math and Science),” Ms. Zayance said.

The students will be recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent of Schools at the School Board’s Aug. 15 meeting.

“Understanding how to effectively and responsibly use technology are crucial skills for all of our students, and we’re so proud to see these students honored at the National level for their expertise!” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.
